1、扰乱正常的工作秩序。参与赌博的人，不但八小时以外赌，而且八小时内也赌，该休息的时候不休息，而是加班玩赌，白天而又没精打彩，无心上班，影响工作。上班期间玩赌，不但影响一个单位的形象，而且不能正常的工作。

2、损害党的形象。中国共产党是工人阶级的先进组织，代表最广大人民的根本利益，如果广大党员干部尤其是领导干部整天沉溺于赌博之中，正事不干，就背离了党的原则，在人民群众中造成不良的影响，破坏了党风，会损害党的形象。

杨女士今年38岁，初中文化，前些年，年纪轻轻就下岗在家，带带孩子，做做家务，日子清贫却也悠闲。下岗在家的几年，她渐渐有了自己的朋友圈，朋友们隔三差五地约她打打麻将，斗斗地主，渐渐地杨女士从对麻将一窍不通，到整日迷恋上了搓麻将。家务不干了，孩子不管了，为此，丈夫常常和她争吵打斗。一年前，夫妻俩离了婚，杨女士和儿子一起生活。每月拿着前夫给的500元生活费，沉迷在赌局里。去年9月，杨女士在警方一次抓赌行动中落网，当时她正和另外二十几名赌徒拥挤在一间浑浊的房间里疯狂赌博，当时的她不仅身无分文，还欠了他人将近1万元债。
