由于动物种类繁多，人类对某一些类群还缺乏深入的研究和了解，因此，直到现在对全世界动物的分类都还没有一个比较完善的分类系统。造成差异的原因，在于有的学者将若干有差异的纲都已提升为门，如原假体腔动物中的轮虫、腹毛、动吻、线形、线虫等纲动物，一些学者均将其提升为门。
另外有一些新的类群被发现，放在原有的各门中均觉不合适，索性新建立为单独的一门，如栉水母动物门，即由于发现了栉水母动物等。对于药用动物的研究来说，早期如《药材学》1960，将其划分为10门，后来《中药鉴定学》1977年等也都采用，仍将动物界划分为10门。
根据的特征仍然是：细胞的分化，胚层的形成，体腔的有无，对称的形式，体节的划分，骨骼的性质，附肢的特点，以及其他器官系统的发生和发展，并参照了地质学上关于地层的划分等资料。

软体动物门：包含有大量常见动物，如田螺、蜗牛、牡蛎、章鱼等；
软舌螺动物门：已灭绝；
四、节肢动物
即节肢动物门：动物界中种类占三分之二以上的动物，昆虫、蜘蛛、螃蟹等都属于该门；
主要特征：
身体两侧对称，身体分节，但部分体节融合成特别部位，如头部及胸部。有些节肢动物，例如蜘蛛类，头部及胸部进一步融合成头胸部。身体的附肢，例如足部、触角、口器等都分节。
体壁坚硬，主要由几丁质组成，可提供保护，亦作为外骨骼之用。由于体壁坚硬，妨碍生长，节肢动物需要在生长期蜕皮多次。
感官系统甚为发达，眼有单眼和复眼两种。复眼用作视物，而单眼用作感光。另外，还有触觉、味觉、嗅觉、听觉及平衡器官，好些昆虫还有特别的发声器。
呼吸系统颇为多样化，可以利用体表，鳃（水生的）及气管（陆生的）呼吸。蜘蛛等则利用书肺进行呼吸。

Yuan Yuan is a beautiful girl. She has pure white fur with two black round eyes and a wet small nose. When people see her, they always call her a white lion. She is really cute and lovely. And she never cares what I look like and what kind of mood I am in. She is just what she is——day after day.
Yuan Yuan is also very loyal and clever. She always does her best to make me happy. She never feels bored to play with me. When I throw the ball out of the window. She will catch it as quickly as possible. We often have good time together.
